MAXXIS tires Assegai 29 x 2.60 WT 3C MaxxTerra TR EXO+
The Assegai is the ultimate downhill tire co-developed by former downhill world champion Greg Minnaar. He has incorporated all his many years of experience in racing there. The basic idea behind it was to get the best out of already known Maxxis profiles.
The well-running cleats from the Minion DHF and Minion DHR II were implemented in the middle of the tread. This gives excellent rolling on hard surfaces, but also grip on wet roots and stones. Slightly reshaped side knobs on the HighRoller take care of fast corners. With these you have a clearly defined limit and always enough reserves. Finally, the shorty adds its profile height and provides sufficient traction even on deep forest floors. With this intelligent mix you can really let it rip.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and get a too square shape on wide rims and thus a less than optimal performance.
WT tires are optimized for an internal rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an internal dimension between 30 and 40 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
tube tires have many advantages: You can drive with less air pressure. This gives better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no inner tube , the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other "tubeless ready" tires. The bead of our TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer like a real UST tubeless tube . As a result, tube installation is successful for all rims with standard dimensions the first time you pump it up and with little liquid.
"Normal" MAXXIS MTB tires can also be mounted tubeless with sealant like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very dense.
However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless assembly and guaranteed by MAXXIS. The tubeless assembly of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been shown to attack the carcass and, depending on the amount used, can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months.
EXO+ Protection
Maxxi's new EXO+ construction combines two of the best puncture protection materials: SilkShield and EXO. The SilkShield layer wraps the entire tire from bead to bead, the EXO layer is mounted on the sidewalls. Together, the EXO+ results in the following advantages: 27% better puncture protection on the tread, 51% more stable sidewall, 28% more puncture protection compared to the proven, stable EXO carcass.
Tires with EXO+ Protection are designed for aggressive trail riding and enduro racing and are ideal for the higher torque and weight that e-MTBs experience.
Note: In 2022 there will be a "running change" procedure for Maxxis tires with EXO+ carcass. Unfortunately we have no influence on when which tire will be delivered in which version and ask for your understanding.
The EXO+ carcass has been revised and is now even more robust. The revised version uses a 60 TPI carcass instead of 120 TPI. The Silkshield is omitted, the EXO sidewall protection has been reinforced and a butyl insert on the bead has been added. The weight is 1 to 5% higher.
3C MaxxTerra
3C MaxxTerra is the optimal three-layer rubber compound for our enduro and freeride tires. Ease of movement uphill and best grip downhill characterize this mixture as well as a long service life.
